About me

I am a journalist with over thirty years of experience in radio, television, documentary film, and print media. I also write books and give lectures. I specialize in the dissemination and analysis of social, cultural, and political trends. I have reported from international conflict zones and reflect on the world we live in, both the small world and the big world.

I have also been nominated for the Goya Awards and university professor. I currently direct and present “La Mañana de Fin de Semana” on Cadena COPE, I am the head of the audiovisual production company N Medio, and I edit the digital newspaper Páginas Digital.

Producer and director of documentaries in many corners of the world

For years, I have traveled to many corners of the world (China, Iraq, Syria, India, Lebanon, Nigeria, Mexico, Costa Rica, Egypt, Pakistan) to produce and shoot documentaries. I have also recounted these experiences in some of my books. In some cases, filming takes place in conflict zones, war zones, regions controlled by radical Islamism, drug cartels, or dictatorial regimes. Here you can read, for example, the story of how I was detained by Hezbollah militiamen.

Lecturer

I often give lectures or participate in round tables on current issues. I usually draw on my own experiences, what I have learned from my reading, and what I write about in my books. I am often invited to speak about geostrategic issues, cultural trends, and the underlying movements that help us understand what is happening in our world.

I have written for several newspapers. I now publish a weekly article in the digital newspaper that I direct and edit Páginas Digital, in the Italian newspaper Il Sussidiario and on the American platform Epochal Change.

With my doctoral thesis, I wanted to develop a model for the qualitative analysis of information applied to local television. I then wrote a few more articles on this topic, such as this one “A Model for the Quantitative and Qualitative Analysis of Journalistic Content in Television News Programs” and this other one: “A historical approach to the regulation of local television in Spain” . Derecom: International Journal of Communication Law and New Technologies, (16), 5. (2014). Some scholars have cited my work. Perhaps one day I will return to academic research, although I haven’t found the time for it in ten years and I think it’s getting late.
